Cataract surgery

Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in the world. It is estimated that in 1998, cataract was the cause of blindness in 20 million people worldwide. Cataract surgery is required by 30 million people a year, but only 10 million manage to have a surgery. Today’s technology is modern, pretty safe and gives completely predictable results, and it is recommended to be operate when cataract begins to bother normal life and work.

Retinal detachment surgery

Retinal detachment presents an important cause of blindness and the decrease of visual acuity. It is one of the most urgent conditions in ophthalmology. The sooner the patient contacts an ophthalmologist, the greater are the chances of a successful surgery and good visual acuity

glaukom

Treatment of Glaucoma

Glaucoma, often called “increased intraocular pressure” is very common eye disease that is one of the leading causes of blindness in the world and in our country! Glaucoma is a condition in which it is difficult to maintain the normal flow of aqueous humor through the eye, causing high levels of intraocular pressure within the eye and leading to damage to the optic nerve, visual field deterioration and loss of vision. The danger lies in the fact that there are no pronounced subjective symptoms – glaucoma is only felt when it’s already too late!

Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an established diagnostic method that enables consideration of cross-sections of the inner structure of the tissue by measuring the echo time delay and the intensity of the reflected light against the tissue structure. In this way “optical biopsy” of the tissue is achieved without excision and visualization of tissue morphology in real time, under the control of the examiner.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (Age Related Macular Degeneration) is the leading cause of blindness in developed countries and one of the leading ophthalmic problems of modern ophthalmology. The risk of this disease increases significantly with ageing. In the population aged between 65 to 75 it is found in 10%, while in population over 75 the risk is with 35%.

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are optical devices that are used for vision correction, for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. Technological development has done its part so nowadays we have biocompatible lenses with good optical characteristics and comfort.

Ultrasound imaging (Sonography)

Ultrasound imaging (Sonography) represents a non-invasive, contact, painless method for diagnosing a wide range of eye diseases, especially in patients where conventional methods of examination are insufficient to provide accurate diagnoses.

Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, and unless treated on time, it can lead to a permanent vision loss.
